1870: He joined Brookfield school as a teacher.
1896: He married Katherine Bridges in London at the age of 48 years.
1898: Katherine Bridges died just after two years of her marriage.
1900: Chips became senior teacher and Ralston, a young man was appointed as headmaster.
1911: Chatteris became the new headmaster of Brookfield school.
1913: Chips fell seriously ill and resigned from service at the age of sixty five.
